One of the world's most renowned collections of visual arts is held at the Cincinnati Art Museum, with a permanent collection encompassing more than 60,000 works ranging from ancient Egyptian statuary to paintings by the Renaissance's European masters to modern costumes and textiles. The "Cincinnati Wing" of the 1886 museum opened in 2003, dedicated to recording and displaying Cincinnati's own art history, including pieces from artists that have studied and lived in the area. Residing in the picturesque Eden Park, overlooking the Ohio River, the museum is within walking distance of Krohn Conservatory and Playhouse in the Park.
